Synopsis: The Alto Knights draws inspiration from the historical rivalry between mafia leaders Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, who were childhood friends but gradually drifted apart, culminating in Costello’s retirement after Genovese attempted to have him assassinated. Set in 1957, the story begins as Frank Costello arrives in the lobby of his New York apartment building. While waiting for the elevator, he hears someone shout, “Frank!” just before a gunshot rings out, leaving him wounded on the floor as his assailant escapes.
