Synopsis: Crimes of the Future 2022 movie begins with a capsized cruise ship and a youngster playing in the flotsam on the shore. It’s a Ballardian beach scene, with the mother responding to her son eating a plastic trashcan. When we get to Exposition-ville, where the rest of the film will take place, the sense of mystery and horror is successfully dispelled. There’s a collapsing beach village with a wrecked shoreline, reminiscent of Cuba in ruins. There’s a vague, Burroughs-style Interzone when we discover that the human body has transformed.
